Metro-Detroit SchH Club (MDSC) is a full-member club of UScA and AWMA, located in southeast Michigan.  Our members are a diverse group ranging from beginning handlers to highly accomplished trainers.  As a group we are interested in both titling/competing in Schutzhund while supporting the value in owning a highly trained family protection dog.  The fundamentals of dog training applied at MDSC seamlessly transfer all facets of working dog training whether it be home companions or high end police K9s.  Our system is simple: A solid training philosophy combined with consistent training yields the best results.  No gimmicks here, just training.

Schutzhund (also known as IPO internationally) originated over a century ago as a breed test for the German Shepherd.  Over time, schutzhund has evolved into much more than a breed test and has become a highly challenging hobby/sport/competition or “dog sport” for trainers around the globe.  American trainers compete at annual competitions at the National and World Championship Level representing the US against the best of other countries.

MDSC welcomes all breeds and handlers of all ages and experience levels.  If you enjoy dog training, enjoy team oriented endeavors, and love the outdoors then Schutzhund could be for you.  We have a large motivated group and an open-door membership policy.  If you’re curious about Schutzhund you are welcome to see what we are all about at one of our scheduled training days.

Train Smart,

-Team MDSC
